Marzano Topics were developed by researcher Robert J. Marzano. Enabling Marzano topics allows standards to be grouped using categories defined by Marzano and his team. Additionally, report cards can also be modified to display standards organized by Marzano Topics. It's important to note that enabling Marzano Topics will not alter the way your report card looks nor will it change the behavior of the standards already in use at your school.

Enabling Marzano Topics

Enabling Marzano topics as a Full Administrator (or as a Limited Administrator with the appropriate access) is easy:

  1. Go to the Classes tab
  2. Select a Class from the list on the right
  3. In the Standards sub-tab, make sure that a Standards Group has been assigned to the Class
  4. Check the box labeled Enable Marzano Topics
  5. Click Save

When this setting is enabled, it will modify the appearance of Standards on the Teacher interface.

Reporting:

If Marzano Topics are enabled, the Standards Met report will show standards grouped by Marzano topic

If Marzano Topics are enabled, the report card will have an option to show Marzano Topics.  Marzano Topics do not appear on the report card by default. One must select this option separately on the report card profile to enable it.
