Report Cards that need to be printed on both sides of a sheet of paper may require additional setup in order to ensure they print correctly.


Making changes to your printer configuration requires slightly different steps depending on which Operating System you are using (Windows or macOS) as well as which Browser or which PDF Reader you're using.


Note: Not all printers support two-sided printing! If your printer does not support two-sided printing, even if you follow the steps listed here your report cards may not print correctly.


Here are some tips on how to make the printing process as simple as possible:

Printing a two-sided report card as a PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader

To print a two-sided report card by opening a PDF in Acrobat Reader, you will need to first open the Print menu and then select Printer... near the bottom of the window.



A window will appear asking you to confirm that you would like to overwrite the default printer settings configured by Acrobat Reader. Hit Yes to continue.



In the window that appears, make sure that "Two-Sided" is checked. Then select the Layout menu and make sure that the "Two-Sided" setting is set to Short-Edge binding.



Printing a two-sided report card as a PDF in Google Chrome


Printing a two-sided report card by opening a PDF in Google Chrome is identical to printing a two-sided report card directly from the browser.


However, there are some slight differences depending on whether you are using Google Chrome on a computer that uses Windows or on a computer that uses macOS:


Printing a two-sided report card through your browser on Windows

Google Chrome

To print a two-sided report card in Chrome, you will need to first open the Print menu and then select Print using system dialogue near the bottom of the menu.



Next, click on the Preferences button.



Finally, click on the Basic tab and then make sure that "Short Edge" is selected in the Double-Sided Printing menu.



Microsoft Edge

To print a two-sided report card in Edge, you will need to first open the Print menu and then select More settings near the bottom of the page.



In the next menu, select Print on two sides (flip on short edge) from the Duplex printing drop-down menu.



Mozilla Firefox

To print a two-sided report card in Firefox, you will need to first open the Print menu and then select Properties.



In the new window that appears, click on the Basic tab and then make sure that "Short Edge" is selected in the Double-Sided Printing menu.

Google Chrome

To print a two-sided report card in Chrome, you will need to first open the Print menu and then select Print using system dialogue...



In the window that appears, select to the Layout menu and make sure that the "Two-Sided" setting is set to Short-Edge Binding.



Mozilla Firefox

To print a two-sided report card in Firefox, you will need to first open the Print menu. Then, switch to the Layout menu and make sure that the "Two-Sided" setting is set to Short-Edge Binding.



Apple Safari

To print a two-sided report card in Safari, you will need to first open the Print menu. Then, switch to the Layout menu and make sure that the "Two-Sided" setting is set to Short-Edge Binding.
