In the General section of the Settings tab, there are several settings that are so powerful they can only be active for 30 minutes at a time. These settings are collectively referred to as the "Temporarily allow..." settings. Let's go over them one at a time.

By default, Gradelink will not allow you to delete students or classes that have any grade or attendance data associated with them. This is a built-in security feature to prevent accidentally deleting students or classes. However, the setting Temporarily allow deletion of students or classes that contain data will allow you to override this restriction and freely delete students or classes regardless of whether or not there is any data associated with them.

By default, Gradelink will now allow you to make changes to a class if the term it belongs to has already passed and there is a copy of the class in another term. For example, if you have a Mathematics class in Quarter 1 that you copied into Quarter 2, and Quarter 1 has passed, you won't be able to make changes to the class in Quarter 2. This is a built-in security feature to prevent changing aspects of a class that would prevent Gradelink from determining if there are duplicates of the class in other terms, which is useful when generating report cards and transcripts. Temporarily allow changes to classes after the 1st term of the school year will allow you to override this restriction and make changes to classes whenever you'd like.

By default, Gradelink will not allow you to copy classes from one term to another term until seven days prior to the End Date of the first term. This is a built-in security feature to prevent copying classes that are likely to change in the future. For example, if you copy classes from Quarter 1 to Quarter 2 at the beginning of the school year, and then reassign a class in Quarter 1 to a different teacher, the copied class in Quarter 2 will NOT automatically update to reflect the new teacher. Temporarily allow early copying of term classes will allow you to override this restriction and copy classes whenever you'd like.

By default, Gradelink will not allow you to alter the Start or End Date for past terms by more than 100 days. This is a built-in security feature to prevent changes to date-sensitive materials, such as Lesson Plans, Class schedules, or Attendance sheets. Temporarily allow changing dates on past terms will allow you to override this restriction and adjust the Start and End Dates for past terms. [Waiting on feedback from Duke]

Note: If you haven't used these settings before, we highly recommend contacting your account representative before trying to activate any of them.
